Apex, NC - TMSA Public Charter Schools Superintendent Ben Karaduman has met Apex Mayor Jacques Gilbert to present TMSA’s new campus project in Apex for the 2022-2023 school year.

“I am very excited about this project,” said Mayor Gilbert, a retired Apex police captain who spent many years as a school resource officer at Apex High. “This project aligns well with the mission of our town leadership, offers more opportunities for youth and community to thrive,” added Mayor Gilbert. He is committed to ensuring that the Apex of tomorrow is better than the Apex of today.

TMSA has focused on the site at 400 New Hill Olive Chapel Road in Apex to relocate Triangle Math and Science Academy’s high school section and build a new K-8 school. TMSA’s leadership has been searching for a larger and more suitable campus site to fully implement its high school program and strengthen the STEM curriculum for the past couple of years.

“I believe in what you are doing here, and I think it is a slam dunk for opportunity,” said Mayor Gilbert, a self-professed man of athletics. Before taking office, he had previously visited Triangle’s Cary campus while mentoring a Triangle high schooler. “I am glad that you have found what you are looking for in Apex.”

The North Carolina State Board of Education approved in early March Triangle’s request to relocate the high school to a new campus in Apex. The Board will vote on the new K-8 school in April.

The new campus will stretch across 20 acres of land, and host environmentally friendly high-tech school buildings along with a gymnasium and outdoor fields. It will also host a professional learning and conference center.

“We want this new campus to be a center for the community that provides a place for people to meet and develop new ideas,” said TMSA Superintendent Ben Karaduman during his presentation.

TMSA Public Charter Schools has brought a dynamic of change to the quality of education in North Carolina since 2008. They provide a high-quality and enriching education that equips students with 21st-century skills in a safe, nurturing, and culturally responsive learning environment.

TMSA Public Charter Schools include Greensboro’s Triad Math and Science Academy, Cary’s Triangle Math and Science Academy, and Charlotte’s Queen City STEM School.
