Position Duties & Requirements:
  • Teach science to middle school students at STEM-oriented charter school in Charlotte NC in accordance with state standards and with philosophy, values and mission of school.
  • Develop and prepare lessons, ensuring that high academic standards are set and applying sound principles of learning theory and differentiating instruction.
  • Instruct by lecture, demonstration, laboratory and/or group exercises.
  • Develop classroom rules for behavior that are consistent with the school's rules. Develop homework and quizzes/tests.
  • Maintain student behavior.
  • Track students performance and document educational results and actions by maintaining accurate and complete student records.
  • Tutor students who need extra help to master the subject matter.
  • Develop positive relationships withstudents and parents for the purpose of creating a support for students and their education program.
  • Clearly and accurately communicate with administration, colleagues, students and parents.
  • Coach science Olympiad team(s). Travel may be required to Olympiad competitions held in other NC cities/towns.

  • Full-time position.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, other science discipline, or related field
  • + 3 years of experience as science teacher at STEM-charter school(s) which includes science teaching experience at the middle school level is required.
  • Two (2) years of experience coaching science Olympiad team(s) is required.
  • Experience with differentiating instruction and good classroom management skills are required.
    • Note: teaching and coaching experiences may be concurrent.

Charter schools are publicly funded through taxpayer money and privately governed by a non-profit corporation. QSCC has open enrollment with no discrimination, no religious association, and no tuition.
